On December 21st, the closing ceremony of LED General Lighting Conference 2007 was held in Zhongshan, a prefecture, in the south of the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong province in southern China, well known as the "Capital of Lighting". This conference was organized by China Solid State Lighting Alliance (CSA), China Association of Lighting Industry and Guangdong Science and Technology Bureau. As an opportunity of overall conclusion and consideration to the LED application development, the conference attracted more than 400 individuals and 20 companies including many prominent MNCs such as Citizen, Omron, Siemens, Saint-gobain and Osram to attend. 27 Speeches and presentations regarding LED architectural lighting, LED indoor lighting, LED street lighting and standardization were given by entrepreneurs and researchers from either domestic or overseas LED enterprises and institutes. 3 panel discussions concerned "Evaluate and Improve Performances of LED Architectural Lighting", "Development Direction and Key Technologies of LED Indoor Lighting" and "Technology and Application Prospects of LED Street Lighting" were held and drew great attentions from the audience. China is the largest lighting producer and exporter in the world, owning a tremendous lighting industry and market. Rapidly developing technologies and applications of SSL have already brought us many environmental benefits. This conference provided a good opportunity to associate different fields of technology and industry, accelerating the development of high bright white LEDs for the general lighting. We can foresee that a beautiful Green Light Source on the way up there is approaching.
